CLINICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COVID-19 ASSOCIATED PNEUMONIA DEPENDING ON THE RESULTS OF PCR STUDIES

Abstract

An analysis of 65 deaths from COVID-19 pneumonia was carried out: 63% for men, 37% for women. Bilateral polysegmental pneumonia was more common. Autopsy revealed no specific macroscopic changes. Microscopic changes in the lungs of those who died with a positive PCR result and a negative PCR result were characterized by the development of respiratory distress syndrome. Fibrosis in the lung parenchyma was noted already in the early stages, and at later stages it was more pronounced with the addition of purulent exudate and fungal lesions.
